📖 How to Use This Application
📊 Visualizing Climate Data
  1. Select a climate variable from the dropdown menu
  2. Choose your date range using the start and end date pickers
  3. Click "Load Data" to generate the visualization
  4. Interact with the chart using the toolbar:
    • Zoom in/out on specific time periods
    • Pan across the timeline
    • Download chart as PNG or SVG
    • Reset zoom to see all data
🌡️ Available Variables
  • Air Temperature - Measured at 2m height
  • Soil Temperature - 5 depths: -2.5 cm, -10 cm, -40 cm, -80 cm, -130 cm
  • Air Pressure - Atmospheric pressure
  • Relative Humidity - Measured at 2m height
  • Solar Radiation - Incoming shortwave radiation at 2m
  • Wind Speed - Measured at 7.5m height
  • Wind Direction (Rose) - Frequency distribution by compass direction
  • Wind Direction (Scatter) - Time series with color-coded quadrants
  • Snow Depth - Surface depth measurements
⚙️ Data Processing Features
🔄 Automatic Aggregation: If your selection exceeds 1,500 data points, the data is automatically aggregated to 10-minute, 30-minute, 60-minute, or daily intervals for optimal performance. An "Aggregated" badge will appear in the chart header.
🔍 Outlier Removal: Extreme outliers are automatically detected and removed. This is only to remove error values and null values from sensors, etc. Be aware that the data is still raw and non quality assured.
💡 Tips for Best Results
  • Start with a shorter date range (e.g., 7 days) for detailed views
  • Use longer periods (months/years) to identify seasonal patterns
  • The Wind Rose shows prevailing wind directions over the selected period
  • The Wind Scatter plot uses colors to show directional quadrants:
    • ● North (315-45°)
    • ● East (45-135°)
    • ● South (135-225°)
    • ● West (225-315°)
  • Soil temperature plots show all 5 depths simultaneously for comparison

📍 About the Data

Data Source: The data displayed represents the most recent, raw (non-quality-assured) sensor measurements served with normally just one day delay from the main climate station in the Zackenberg Valley, Northeast Greenland (74°28'N, 20°34'W).

The climate station is operated by ClimateBasis (Asiaq) as part of the GEM (Greenland Ecosystem Monitoring) programme. This interface allows you to stay informed of current and recent climate conditions in the area.

📚 Historic Data: Historic quality-assured climate data from previous years can be accessed via the GEM database: https://data.g-e-m.dk
